Alcoholism is a very bad addiction. This year ALONE 49,075 people have died of alcohol with the numbers going up every couple of seconds. Alcohol consumption may give the user heightened emotions (including anger and aggression, poor balance, slurred speech, dizziness, disturbed sleep, nausea and vomiting, ect. excessive use of alcohol may lead to abuse, and drug addiction. When in the state of alcohol affects you may feel relaxation, euphoria, excitement, and more. Short term effects of alcohol is that it’s harmful to the body’s tissue. In 2019 NSDUH 14.1 million people 18+ have AUD (alcohol use disorder) 8.9 million men and 5.2 women. 414,000 people from age 12-17 has AUD 163,000 male and 251,000 females. Last year in 2020 2.8 million people died because of excessive alcohol consumption.
More than 10% of American kids live with alcoholic parents. 39.7% of people ages 12-20 have taken at least one drink in their lifetime. In 2019 52.5% of full time college students ages 18-22 have been reported binge drinking. 1,825 college students from the ages 18-22 die of alcohol-related unintentional injuries. 97,000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 has experienced alcohol-related sexual assault or date rape. In 2018 83,517 liver disease deaths among individuals ages 12 and older. 42.8% of those deaths were called because of alcohol. Drinking increases risk of cancer in the mouth, esophagus, pharynx, liver, and breast.
